OCTIA Policy Recommendations Submitted
Published on: April 6, 2020

In late March, the Ontario Clean Technology Industry Association (OCTIA) surveyed over 100 companies, representing more than 2,000 employees, to evaluate the economic impact of COVID-19 on Ontario’s cleantech sector. The results of the survey were combined with other regional surveys and informed the federal government’s COVID-19 Economic Response Plan – an initiative by the Canada Cleantech Alliance. In a second step, the results were discussed in a webinar hosted by OCTIA and formed the basis for the association’s policy recommendations to the Ontario government. OCTIA submitted these recommendations in a letter to the Hon. Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade as well as all other concerned parties, including

  • Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford
  • Hon. Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing
  • Hon. Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development
  • Hon. Rod Phillips, Minister of Finance
  • Hon. Laurie Scott, Minister of Infrastructure
  • Hon. Jeff Yurek, Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks
  • Hon. Prabmeet Sarkaria, Associate Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction, Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade
  • Hon. Bill Walker, Associate Minister of Energy, Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines
