In late March, the Ontario Clean Technology Industry Association (OCTIA) surveyed over 100 companies, representing more than 2,000 employees, to evaluate the economic impact of COVID-19 on Ontario’s cleantech sector. The results of the survey were combined with other regional surveys and informed the federal government’s COVID-19 Economic Response Plan – an initiative by the Canada Cleantech Alliance. In a second step, the results were discussed in a webinar hosted by OCTIA. The ideas for economic recovery mechanisms and the shovel-worthy projects the survey participants submitted form the basis for the association’s advocacy work focusing on a resilient recovery.
