As catastrophic as the pandemic we are facing may be and as hard as it is for cleantech companies, especially smaller players, to navigate the current crisis, there is also a big opportunity associated with the post-pandemic economic recovery. It is an opportunity to press the reset button and to help Ontario build a prosperous, resilient economy. Informed by feedback from its members and other sector leaders, OCTIA submitted three concrete policy proposals for a resilient recovery to the Ontario Jobs and Recovery Committee. You will find OCTIA’s submission here which included a list of 36 shovel-worthy projects curated by OCTIA and its Founding Member MaRS. Thanks to all members who provided additional input via email and on the phone, specifically on regulatory burdens and shovel-worthy projects! OCTIA also signed on to the call for a Resilient Recovery by CanadaCleantech Alliance and Clean Energy Canada which received 371 signatures representing 2,175 companies. Add your name here. Recently, Corporate Knights published an open letter to Canada’s Finance Minister Bill Morneau calling for a bold green recovery which OCTIA – as many others – is supportive of.
