OCTIA is a leader in promoting and supporting clean technology initiatives. We are dedicated to advancing the sector through advocacy, networking, and collaboration. Our members range from industry giants to emerging start-ups, all united by a common goal of driving sustainable innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Executive Director, you will:

  • Oversee membership renewals and recruitment of new members, ensuring a vibrant and engaged community.
  • Work with and leverage the strengths and skills of a vibrant board of cleantech leaders.
  • Maintain active committee work, coordinating with members and chairpersons to meet organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement policy initiatives in consultation with experts and stakeholders.
  • Organize and promote key events, including the Cleantech Forum, University of Toronto events, partner events with Cleantech North, Export Development Canada and the Trade Commissioner Service and others, and organize our annual holiday party and Annual General Meeting (AGM).
  • Manage event logistics, from planning to execution, including securing sponsorships and managing budgets.
  • Maintain regular communication with members through newsletters and social media, ensuring a strong and consistent brand presence.
  • Lead advocacy efforts, including writing policy briefings, engaging with government officials, and organizing lobby days.
  • Manage financial aspects, including budgeting for the organization and specific events.
  • Conduct annual board retreats and strategy sessions, shaping the future direction of OCTIA.
  • Utilize tools like HubSpot for effective membership management and engagement.
  • Regularly update the website to reflect current activities and achievements.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably within a non-profit or association environment.
  • A self starter with the ability to work independently and cooperatively, knowing when and how to draw on appropriate resources when needed
  • Strong understanding and passion for clean technology and its market.
  • Excellent organizational and event management skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with government officials, industry leaders, and members.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in digital tools for communication, membership management, and website maintenance.
